Martingale collar

  • Ensuring a proper neck measurement is key to selecting a collar that fits your dog perfectly. 
  • Collars are not sized by overall length, they're sized by dog's head or neck. 
  • If it comes to martingale collar, there's always additional length of webbing which tights up the collar and let you slip collar through its head.
  • All collars are made differently, so do not measure the overall length of your existing dog collar.
Place the measuring tape snug against:
  1. your dog's head in the largest part
  2. your dog's neck in the middle
If your dog's head is larger than its neck, please use neck measurement to fit the size of collar. If your dog's neck is larger than its head, then you should use head measurement to fit the size of collar. Martingale collar should be always a little bit smaller then the widest part of your dog's neck or head (depends which one is larger in your dog's case) - we want your doggo to be safe and not to escape from collar.  There's no need to add extra length "just in case". Remember, when selecting the size of collar, to choose a size for which your dog's head/neck measurement is in the middle of the size range.

Who should wear martingale collar?

This type of collar works good:

  • with dog who has bigger neck then head and is able to escape from the traditional collar, especially greyhounds;
  • when your dog is Houdini’s next incarnation, and tends to magically escape from any traditional collar;
  • if your dog has a long fur – no more clipping dog’s hair into buckle.

Which length to choose?

  • The width of 2 cm is recommended for small dogs and medium dogs.
  • Width 2.5 cm is recommended for medium dogs.
  • Width 3,5 cm is recommended for large breeds.
